If your DC had the flu and you didn't give tamiflu - pls come in
How many days did the fever last?
My DD started with a very high fever Sunday night. Monday she again had a fever all day and I took her to the doctor and she tested positive for the flu. Tues, Wed and today - she has no fever all day until the early evening. I give her motrin before bed and she wakes up fever free and stays that way until the night. But, now this is day 5 of the fever - should I be concerned? Other than this she has very few symptoms - she has a runny nose and a bit of a cough but nothing terrible. She is pretty functional and seems a-ok. Just wondering what is typical with the fever. Ped had said if she still had a fever by weekend to call...
TIA!

For us it was about 7 - 8 days on and off with fever. Both boys had the flu same time. DS1 was fever free for over a day so I was gonna take him out to the supermarket just to get out. Literally 5 mins before leaving he started acting lethargic. He got a fever again even though he was fever free for a while. Took about 8 days to fully be out of their system. There were days they slept most of the day and other days they seemed totally fine and well. It was a nightmare. Hopefully she feels better soon.

Eh, the flu can last a week. Not unusual. My kids get viruses where for 2-3 days they only have a fever after 3 or 4 but are 99 during the day. As long as she is acting ok and isn't very sick I wouldn't worry. Not much you can do for the flu except wait it out.

This was my dd word for word only difference was she would go 1 day with no fever then it would spike in the middle of the night to 103, then she would have a low grade fever the next day. Then would go away for a day even 2 then come back again at night. I would say this went on for like 5-6 days. My peds said anything longer than that I had to bring her back in especially if symptoms got worse, which hers never did. She never lost her appetite, she was drinking water and plenty of wet diapers, poop was normal, behavior was normal. A lil mushy and napped which she usually doesn't. But otherwise was in a great mood and just had cold symptoms. We took elderberry and I felt it help to cut down and reduce the symptoms. We were also taking motrin at night, Tylenol during the day and Dimetapp. After the fever went away completely her symptoms started to disappear very quickly after that.
ETA: my peds said the flu can last up to 10 days. Normal cold is 5-7.

My son had it for about 6 or 7 days last year and we didn't give tamiflu. Other than being extra mushy when he had a fever and at night he was fine when I gave him motrin. The flu can last up to 10 days.
