nap help
My twins are 4 months and I have a 5 year old DS. They nap well if in the swings. I can get them to sleep in the cribs for the naps (although not as long as if in rockers/swing) but I need to rock them to sleep first.I wouldn't mind, but with two that's hard to do and if DS is home. I want them in the crib as much as possible just to be better sleepers overall - but should I just not bother now? Just stick with swings bc life is easier that way for now? I tried putting one in early enough so she wasn't overtired and might fall asleep on own - but she didn't. Keep trying? ANy pointers?
TIA

nap help
I have found it is easier to create good habits then break bad ones-My dd is just starting to take a morning nap in her crib at nearly a year old- her preference is to sleep in my arms since that is the habit I started when she was a newborn with bad reflux. She doesn't take a long nap but it is a nap.

Re: nap help
I'd keep them in the swings for naps if that's where they nap best. DS napped in the swing until 5 months old. Then he decided he liked sleeping on his tummy better, so the transition to the crib for naps was easy.

Stick with the swings, you have your hands full! DS napped in a swing until close to 6 months... then i followed this: weaning baby off the swing

Re: nap help
Have you heard of Sleep Sense? I did this program with my 4 month old and now he's a great sleeper. No more rocking to sleep or waking up the moment I put him down. He is now 5.5 months old. He takes 2 - 45 minute naps and 1 - 2 hour nap during the day - all of them in his crib. He also is sleeping from 7:30 PM-7/7:30 AM. Message me if you're interested and I can send you a online copy of the book that I used.

OMG! I could have used this 4 years ago!!!
Personally, DS was addicted to the swing. He NEVER outgrew this phase & needed to be strolled (when he outgrew the swing: yes, it was sad when he was too heavy) to sleep til 3 (when he stopped taking naps). I SERIOUSLY considered putting in a small playground set in our house!!!
Needless to say, DD (DC #2) was never put in a swing. I stuck her in the crib to nap. She cried a bit, but I stuck to a schedule. She's been the best napper in the world, until now, at 3, when she doesn't need the nap anymore.
That being said, you have 2 kids at the same time. Do whatever keeps you sane. You will make "mistakes" with every kid, but as long as no physical harm comes of it, everyone will survive!

nap help
I never got a swing for the house, honestly, and I know it's so stupid, but I just was too afraid of him falling out of it. I had him in the pack & play the moment we got home and then his crib starting around 3 weeks at night for bed. During the day, he'd nap on me or on his play mat at home until I went back to work, now at daycare, they put the babies in the cribs (if they can) the moment they fall asleep. DS is 3 months and is starting to STTN, we're up to about 8/9 hours on average, he wakes to eat, then falls back asleep for another few hours (ranges from 3-5 additional hours). This STTN just started RIGHT after I posted asking for advice for him sleeping. He must have been going through a growth spurt (he had major transitions from me being home to daycare, then was sick, then growth spurt all within 3 weeks and his sleep was HORRIBLE).
BUT, I agree with the others, you have your hands full now. Stick with what works! Don't go crazy trying to break him of the habit now.
