Renting DVC - "on site" perks?
We are in the early stages of planning our first Disney World trip with our two daughters. They will be 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 (dates are still up in the air.) If we rent dvc points from a friend are we considered on site guests? I'm hoping to be able to: 1) Use Disney transportation to and from the airport. 2) Be able to resort hop. 3) Make ADRs and FastPass+ plans earlier than off site guests. 4) Link all trip info and reservations to Magic Bands.
Are these all included when renting DVC points? The way I understand it, our friends would have to handle the reservation for us but I assume they can make it in our names and we can then link it to our account.
Sorry, still learning the "Disney language" so not completely sure I worded all that correctly.

Whether you rent or own DVC points, you are considered full on-site Disney guests and get access to all of the benefits of staying onsite.
So yes, you will be able to use all Disney transportation (including Magical Express), you will be able to resort hop, make your ADR's at 180, your FP+ reservations at 60 days and everything will be linked to your magic bands.
The other "perk" DVC guests get is the ability to buy a dining plan without buying park tickets. We are also not charged the "seasonal upcharge" on the dining plans.
Your friends would make the reservations for you in your names and they would have to buy the meal plan if you want it, then when you get the confirmation number, you link it in your my disney experience account.

That pretty much makes renting points a no brainer then. Thank you so much for your response!

yup! all of those! but just because it can be confusing... RESORT hopping is not the same as PARK hopping. Resort hopping is going from hotel to hotel on the Disney property to look around, go to a restaurant at another resort, etc. pretty much anybody can do that you can use disney transport to get from place to place on property-whether you're staying onsite or not PARK hopping is going between different theme parks in one day- like say Magic Kngdom in the morning, and then Epcot at night.... to do that, you need to pay extra for the "park hopper" option on your tickets Another benefit of staying onsite it Extra Magic hours... on certain days, certain park are opened an hour earlier or an hour later ONLY for people staying at a disney resort

Re: Renting DVC - "on site" perks?
Yes, I definitely hope to have an "off" day and visit some different resorts for meals etc but definitely don't want to park hop. My girls are young and we'll need to pace things for them. I actually intend to avoid EMH because I assume that could draw more crowds? My girls aren't up super early but also shouldn't go to bed too late so I don't see us benefiting from them but thank you for the info! While the girls are young convenience is key so I'm thinking either Bay Lake Towers or the Poly would be best for us (though I know getting into the Poly will be almost impossible at first.) Thank you for your help!

You might also want to look into Wilderness Lodge. The boats back and forth to magic kingdom are super convenient. It's one of my favorite properties. Quiet and yet close to everything.

The only thing you don't get is daily housekeeping service. I'm not sure if by Resort Hopping, you mean using other resorts pools? If so, no you can't do that, regardless if you are DVC or not. Anyone can visit the resorts, even if you are staying off site.

This is not entirely true. DVC members can pool hop. There are blackout dates and you can't pool hop to all resorts, but it is possible with your membership card. People renting DVC points are not eligible to pool hop.
You can request daily housekeeping but it is expensive.
