St. Joseph's Nursery School Babylon
Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone had feedback on St. Joseph's Nursery School in Babylon. Did you like the curriculum and was your child prepared for Kindergarten? Did they have outside playtime? Did they do a lot of trips/ activities? (Fire Dept., Dentist) How did you like the teachers? Thank You!

My kids are in the three year old program now so they are not yet prepared for kindergarten but we LOVE it there. The teachers are great, my kids have learned so much and they love going to school. They don't have outside playtime but they do so much inside that I think they are ok with it. The only trips this year they had was pumpkin picking. They do have childrens plays they cab go to around the holidays and stuff but that is not during school hours. The three year old program is a lot of play, art and activities. Letter, numbers and name recognition. Right now theybare actually working on a numbers book. They are learning to put a certain amount of things on a piece of paper, and write the number. Each kid is making their own book and will bring it home at the end of the month. The 4 year old program they do writing and have gym days on top of what they are doing now. Again, the teachers are great and my twins are very happy. My 2 year old will be going in September.

Thanks for your reply. Do they do a lot of holiday parties? Thanksgiving, Christmas etc. and do they do a moving up ceremony?

For Halloween the parents came in to watch them sing some songs and parade around the room in costumes they made in class. For Christmas they had a little party where the parents came and had snack with the kids and they sang some songs and read a story. Those are the only things so far. The 3 year old program is on Tuesdays and Thursdays so today they celebrated valentines day in class. Thanksgiving they celebrated in class and they made a bread mixture that they brought home to bake. I know they don't do a moving up ceremony for the 3 year old but they do for the 4 year olds. I am not sure what they do at the end of the school year for the 3 year olds yet.

Re: St. Joseph's Nursery School Babylon
We loved St. Joseph's. The teachers are warm, loving and caring. The curriculum is very good. They do a very good mix of free play and learning. My son was very well prepared for kindergarten. I really liked that the rooms are set up like classrooms and not just play rooms.
They do not have any outdoor play time. But for the 3 hours the classes were held, this was not an issue. The kids had so much to do in that time, they had a lot of fun all indoors. Also, in the warmer months, the rooms are air conditioned.
Other than the pumpkin picking, there weren't any field trips. They had a halloween parade around the building, a Christmas "pageant" with songs, Valentine's party, Mother's day celebration, and a moving up ceremony. Every month they were celebrating another holiday (halloween, thanksgiving, christmas, valentines, etc.) and they always worked a craft into the learning.
