Wound up at night
I wrote a week or so ago about my 5 yr old getting up at night. Well, he's starting to do better now. He goes through phases. Now lately he's so wound up before bedtime. Keeps saying he's not tired and takes a while to wind down. He always has a lot on his mind, needs to know the time, all stuffed animals need to be tucked in, wants to go over what he's doing the next day or what we did that day, etc. He'll get up and walk around his bed too and sometimes yell its morning. I try everything. He goes to sleep between 7:30 - 8. We read a few books together with his brother. He's gets up at 7am. Goes to school half day everyday and two of the days he has kindergarten enrichment. The other 3 we're up early to take his brother to preschool then run errands. Nights we do homework, play, dinner, showers and then books. Weekends we're usually pretty busy too with family, play dates, errands, activities for the kids, and parties.
Any advise to get him settled? I feel like he's busy enough and I can't put him to bed later. Makes no difference. He goes later on weekends and still up at 7 and ready for the day. Spring we start baseball and soccer on weekends but don't know if that'll make a difference. We've had packed, nonstop active days and he still takes some time to go to bed. Once in a while he passes out fast but not so often.

Wound up at night
Does he have anxiety? It sounds like needing to know the time, routine with the stuffed animals, and review what he did for the day and what he will do tomorrow sounds like anxiety in my professional opinion. I would suggest getting him a calendar so he can see what he is doing the next day and I would get him a clock. Probably an alarm clock so you can use the alarm if needed. Try making a visual schedule for his night time routine so he can go through all he needs to do at night and then will know when it's time for bed! Good luck!

He does have anxiety. We do charts and all. I tried the clock in his room but when he was playing with it when he first got it he put the alarm on. Since then he didn't want it in his room bc he didn't want it to beep. I told him several times it won't. He said we can get a new clock that won't make any noise. Lol I feel like he's outgrown a lot of his anxieties and even better about talking himself through it. Gets better with age, but this is new him taking a while to fall asleep. Once he does he's goid and wakes happy. Once in a while he does this thing where he's half asleep kicking the sheets and whining and then goes back to sleep. When he does that its at the same time in the middle of the night.
Thanks

Wound up at night
My oldest went through a phase of being really hyper at bedtime, and now my 3yo seems to have entered that phase. We do a full body massage after books. I have him lay down in bed and I slowly massage his whole body, starting at his shoulders and moving all the way down to his feet. It worked with our oldest and it seems to be working great with our second also.
