Ideas for a big family trip
My siblings and I would like to plan a trip for the entire family sometime this year. Someplace warm, pool or beach, for adults and kids from 10 months to 12 years old. Probably a 3 bedroom suite type of resort or rental. Anytime from June to December. We are also all on a budget but have never been on a family vacation and would love to plan one. I'm open to any ideas or suggestions. TIA!!!

Ideas for a big family trip
maybe the outer banks in north carolina?? you can rent a huge house right on the beach.. most of them also have their own private pool, maybe a hot tub, too its a beautiful area, so laid back and low-key- great place to just hang out with the family for a week!

Re: Ideas for a big family trip
Is that the budget for the resort/house rental? Or are you trying to keep it under that including food and entertainment? You can definitely find a nice 4 bedroom place in your budget for a week for $3500-4000 but if you are looking for all expenses within that budget, then you're definitely going to fave to do it off peak to make it work.

Where could I get a nice 3-4 bedroom place in this price range? I've heard of outerbanks, what other places??

This sounds great! Where can I find a list of rentals and info. on this? How can I book a house and how far in advance does this have to be done? When is the best time to go here? August? September?

Cruise? You can def stick to a budget & go tropical. Never been to outer banks, but I assumed it was more $$$$.

Re: Ideas for a big family trip
I suggest starting on homeaway.com You can put in roughly what you're looking for to get an idea of pricing- how many bedrooms, baths, dates, etc.., There are lots of places that may be a good fit. But the big question is, what are you looking for in this vacation? Are you looking for a beach/lake vacation? Are you looking for history? Amusement parks? Hiking/nature trails?

Beach, some shopping and some kids activities.

Re: Ideas for a big family trip
I would look into Outer Banks, Ocean City, Jersey Shore, CT shore, Myrtle Beach, Virginia Beach, Dewey Beach. You can search all of them on homeaway.com. It will give you an idea of how far your money can go in each place.

Agreed. My family has always stayed in North Myrtle Beach (Cherry Grove section), we've used Elliott Rentals several times in the past for house/condo rentals and have always been happy.

Take a look at Carolina Beach or Kure Beach, NC...definitely could get a nice size house there for that price.

Ideas for a big family trip
Virginia Beach we did with my family at the end of August. Stayed near the beach and then drove to Bush Gardens one day.
