Skiing at Tuxedo Ridge?
Has anyone went there with children? Wondering how small the bunny hill(s) is and does it have the magic carpet? Did you find it chaotic and busy?

Re: Skiing at Tuxedo Ridge?
So funny you mention this. My son is off from school tomorrow and I had made reservations for private lessons for both my boys weeks ago. I got called Monday and apparently they overbooked, and were basically canceling. I wound up scrambling this week to find another place. I'm taking them to Mt. Peter tomorrow. I believe they have a tow rope and a magic carpet. I'll let you know how it was. I also have friends who like Thunder Ridge too.

That stinks! Let me know how the other is though. We usually go to Campgaw for snowtubing, but have never done the skiing because the area always looks chaotic! I actually booked another trip to Rocking Horse after I posted this, so we probably won't try the other mountains this year, but good to know for next!

Re: Skiing at Tuxedo Ridge?
The kids had a great experience, and that's all I wanted. It was a small mountain. Even with nice, fresh snow falling, they only had one lift open. The boys each had a private lesson for an hour and their instructors took them up on the lift. It was my 4 yr olds first time, I think he managed to squeeze in 3 runs. My older DS is 8 and has skied a couple of times. I think he made it up and down about 4-5 times. It was definitely worth it. It was tough for me to have both kids, but we made it work. They're excited to go again, so I consider the day a success.

This is good to know. I would like to take my kids skiing for the day somewhere local. One question-can you rent skis on site? My kids have seasonal rentals but I would need to rent for myself. Thanks!

Yes, you can rent skis there. I think it was $30 for adult rentals.
