Help!

I hate growth spurts. I'm back to ftw and after the first week ds got sick, then me (really sick 101.7 fever and all) which I am still fighting, and now what I can help but assume is another growth spurt. At 9:30 ds ate his 1 formula bottle - finished 5.5 oz, then woke to eat at 11:30, 1:30, 2:30, and at 2:30 took a short break between boobs. I really don't know how long I can keep this up, please tell me it gets easier. I really can't function on no sleep, I'm not like people who can get 4-5 hours and be a productive little worker bee! Ds is 2 & 1/2 months old.

I've always fed on a schedule(started from day 1 at the hospital; screw that on demand thing they preach). I would feed/pump 8am,11:30am, 3:30 or 4pm, 7:30/8pm, 11pm, 3:30am then again at 8am. DD would always sleep through that 3:30an-8am stretch. Once I went back to work daycare would give her a bottle of breast milk at 8am since I would drop her at 6:45am.

As your DS gets older it does get much easier. Since it will be longer stretches in between feedings but try to get a schedule going.

Just when they get on a schedule or sleep they will switch it up on you. So does it get easier...... Yes and no. I think we just start to adapt to it.

Can you pump so your DH can give a bottle....

Hopefully it is a growth spurt and will only last a day or two. Then maybe you'll get a very sleepy day once it passes.

It gets easier. And then harder. And then easier lol. They go through so many phases. Growth spurts. Teething. Separation. Etc etc etc.

Are you pumping so that dh can take a night feeding?

He's still so little, he's going to change up often. It's probably a growth spurt and will hopefully pass in a day or 2. Does he sleep in your room? Can you try to nurse laying down so you can rest while feeding?

I'm also not a fan of scheduling babies. Aren't you hungry at different times every day? Sometimes I want lunch at 11, sometimes at 1!

Also, if you just went back to work, babies might wake more to nurse overnight bc they miss you and crave the closeness

Those first few months are tough! Just remember it will pass. And, I know it's hard to believe, but one day you will actually miss the late night feeding and cuddle time! You will sleep again!

I would let DH do more feedings but the issue is two fold with that, (a) I already don't get to feed him during the day because of work/daycare, and what I'm pumping goes to that and (b) DH has to get up at 4:45am for work as it is, I could see if he could take the 4:30ish feeding, if he has one....I'm going to cross my fingers and see how it goes over the next few days. Honestly, he was doing so well, sleeping between 5-7 hours at a time before he started daycare, got back to it, then got sick, and has been having trouble going longer then 2-3 hours between feedings since.

Thanks for the advice! I'll talk to DH and see if he'll do that early morning feeding, maybe I'll switch it so he gets the formula bottle then and not right before bed, though I usually like giving him the formula before bed because he *usually* sleeps longer.

Things got easier for me when Dd started sleeping through the night at 3.5 months old. The first couple of months was really hard.
