for those who have had their child baptized...

I'm not due until March but I'm a natural planner. I have no idea how to go about having my LO baptized. Feeling clueless... What's the process? Any advice as to when I need to start thinking about it for real.....

I don't formally belong to a church. I was baptized, raised and confirmed roman catholic and my husband is Jewish. We're raising the baby catholic. I don't really go to church (only major holidays) and I've never been to my local Parrish. I go to the church I grew up in (next town over). Not really sure that even matters....

Any and all info / experience is appreciated!!!

I would call the parish u are a member of. I called a month or two before my due date (I knew what date I wanted my DS to be baptized). DH and I had to go to a class, it was an hour long, but every church is different you might have to go with the godparents.

I feel like I just called up and they gave me a couple of dates to choose from as far as when I could have the baptism. Then I had to go to a meeting (DH couldn't make it) and that was it.

We did not have a personal service, we baptized with several other babies.

find the church. go to their office(you can call first and find out hours) tell them you are having a child and would like them to be baptized their. they will prob have you fill out something to become a parishioner. i suggest taking the class asap. before the baby is born so you dont have to worry about finding a sitter or bringing baby to the class. the prob should have a class before march

We just moved at the time. I found a church that was close to us and called. They sent me the info in the Mail I think and signed me up for the parent class. I never had to go to the church beforehand. It's simple.

I wasnt and still are not a practicing Catholic, although I have made all of my Sacraments. I baptized both of my children and havent been back to church since (they are not making their communion) but since it was tradition, and to keep my grandmother from losing her mind and sitting and praying for their souls all day, I did it. I went to my childhood parish, walked into the office, the office lady asked me to fill out some paperwork, pick a date, went to a class one night and that was it. Then we just showed up.

I contacted the priest that married us because we have a history with him and just love him. Im not Catholic but my DH is. My dd was already like 1-2 months old at the time. The priest gave us some dates. We chose what worked. We never even went to the parent class. We went the night the church was holding it and they had to cancel. They never rescheduled before our set baptism date. That was it. The day of we showed up with all our family and done. Then off to party LOL

We registered with the parish and let them know we wanted our baby baptized there. We had to give them a date and they checked for availability, and then we filled out some paperwork with godparents info (at least 1 godparent had to be catholic) and then we were required to attend a baptism class.

I called up my family church and asked for the priest that married my DH & me to baptize our son. We have to attend a class before the Baptism. In our church, both godparents have to have proof of all completed sacraments.

I had to call the parish and register. They gave me a bunch of dates that they did baptisms. I picked a date and then had to attend two nightly classes. Only one godparent had to be catholic.

Cal the church you WANT to baptize the baby in and see what they want you to do. Every church is different when it comes to the specifics. So the easiest place to start is seeing what the church your prefer says.
