Virginia anyone?
With all the talk about moving OOS my DH and I are starting to think about looking at Virginia. His company is there and he may be able to transfer. I have a pretty flexible career (librarian) so I'd probably be able to find a PT job fairly easily.
Anyone live or know someone who lives in VA? Do they like it.

my cousin has lived all over VA (from Northern right outside of DC to central to southern) and LOVES IT there.

my sister lives outside of Richmond. there are a lot of new developments. You can find new construction for less than $250K. she has two brand new shopping malls (really nice outdoor malls, with high end stores)

My BIL and SIL live in Centreville, which is also VA=they were saying the same thing....
I am not sure about any other areas, but I hera VA is nice!

I live outside of DC and the housing market is bad, but getting better.
Richmond is a great area though. Where in VA would you be moving to?

we live in VA. really depends where you go in VA. Northern VA seems to be on par with LI as far as cost, maybe a smidge less because it seems our taxes are lower, but the rest of the state is very reasonable.

i had a friend (ex bridesmaid so no longer a "friend") move to VA. she was miserable at first cause she missed LI so much and didnt know anyone. (she followed her boyfriend down there cause he got offered a job). i guess she's okay with it now. she moved to Glen Allen (not sure if that's north, south, east or west!) but from what she told me the houses were affordable.

We just moved to Chesapeake VA. So far we like it here. We are in a heavily populated military area & b/c they have to move a lot there are always a lot of house for sale. The house are affordable. Taxes and utilities are much less. What area are you looking at?

We haven't really opened a map to look at different areas yet. I'm just trying to get an idea about the area.
Its just one of the possibilities we are looking at as Virginia is on of the states my husband's co. if located in.
