Help with Vegas trip

What is the best website to book a trip to Vegas - either air/hotel or separate air and hotel? We need a family friendly hotel that has a decent pool area but also isn't too expensive. Any thoughts? TIA.

Re: Help with Vegas trip

We just booked a trip (not to Vegas though) and I found that the BEST price for all hotels I looked at was through the hotels direct website. If you have AAA it's a plus too because a lot of hotels offer discounted rates if you are an AAA member.
I priced our hotel through Expedia, hotels.com, priceline, all of the major sites.
Prices were all higher than through the hotel with AAA.
Even without AAA the prices on the hotel sites were cheaper.

I suggest you go on Trip Advisor to do your research on the hotel- really read the reviews, see if it has what you want in terms of pool, family friendly etc.
Then price it out through the hotel directly and through trivago which searches all the other sites for you.
(expedia, etc)

Mandalay Bay is family friendly, has an aquarium and nice pool. I stayed at Luxor years ago and remember walking through Mandalay Bay.

Packages that include air/hotel often aren't the best deal. I never book a package like that, also the cancellation policies are usually more strict.

Orbitz usually has 15% off promo codes on their site. I price there first to see, then go to the hotel's site.

Thank you both! I have started my research and the prices seem to change daily, especially the air (went up over $100 per person in one day!). Just not sure when the best time to book is - will it get cheaper as the dates get closer or am I better off booking asap?

When I just did this, I watched the room prices go up right before my eyes- like overnight for the same room/week.
If you find a price that looks good, I'd do it now.

I have been looking into this as well. I have gotten the best prices from Expedia or thru Amex with the travel program.

Thanks - I had forgotten about Amex. I also looked at Costco - they have good package prices but limited selection.
