it's very overwhelming.
Go to the store to check out your big ticket items - things like the stroller, carseat, high chair etc.
Everything else do from the comfort of your couch online ......

At least I felt that made it MUCH less daunting.

Thank you! Yes, that is what we are trying to do!

Car seats and strollers are to be tackeled next, in store and then I'll probably change it 15 times online.

Get the book best baby bargains, it helped me a lot. It has reviews by real moms and rates items based on quality, price and explains the rating. so if something gets a low rating it may not be based on quality but rather the price and customer service. Its a great book. Helped me as a first timer because you will talk to 100 moms and get 100 different answers.
Every baby is different and you will find certain things work for you and not for another person.

Registering is very overwhelming. Do not expect to do it all in 1 trip. Like people said do big items in store and do smaller ones online. And do it in more than 1 trip and plan each trip. Like today were doing strollers and car seats. Next week well do cribs/furniture... And so on...

This is my personal opinion, but find all my friends kind of echoed it... Don't register for clothes because its a waste... People are going to buy you so much clothes, register for the things you need.

In regards to the pack n play post you had, I have the same one that the previous poster has. My dd is 2.5 years old and while shes on the verge of outgrowing it now and will be in a bed very soon, it still works for grandmas house. So I would say register for a regular size one. You wont need all the bells and whistles which will cut down on cost. I believe its the graco pack n play.

strollers will give you headaches because there are so many and so many choices and you will have no idea what will work for you. Heres the thing, are you living in the city? Living in a walk up apartment? Will you be driving a lot? walking a lot?
You will not only want a full size stroller but an umbrella stroller as well for when the baby gets older. They are lightweight and much easier.
Some people opt for the snap and go and no full size stroller like an uppababy. They are heavy and bulky BUT amazing strollers. Especially if you ever plan to have another you can add the seat. Its a lot to process and think about.
But I STRONGLY recommend that book. It made my life so much easier. I would ask all my friends and each one gave me a different answer.
1 thing you MUST register for- the Rock n play. Best thing EVER! Every baby loves it LOL
