Glider chair - 2nd baby
Dd will be 2.5 when Ds is born. We are keeping her in a crib for as long as possible and then converting it to a toddler bed.
I plan to move my good glider to new baby's room but we love sitting in it to read each night to her.
Should I get a cheaper chair from ikea? Other ideas?

Re: Glider chair - 2nd baby
We just kept the glider in DDs room. I use it with DS while DD plays in the living room or even when she's asleep I just go in an nurse DS.

Glider chair - 2nd baby
I would consider a cheaper one in 2nd babys room. My dd is 2.5 and still in her crib i use the glider ever night. Especially if there are nights she wakes up or has issues falling asleep.
If it was me i would get it then sell 1 on craigs list or put it in another room after the fact. Unless you have a lounger or chair you can movw in your 2nd babys room until your dd is in a bed

Glider chair - 2nd baby
I have the same issue. DS1's room has a glider and we read bedtime stories in there every night. DS2's room will need a glider for night time feedings when he moves into his room. We had 2 older lazy boy recliners that we didn't throw out when we bought our new ones. They work great, but the fabric is a little worn. We put one of those in DS2's room and plan on slip covering it.
I would get a second chair, but not an expensive one since Your first LO won't have it forever.
You could probably look into getting a floor model or clearance glider. Or craigslist. Is anyone in your family looking to get new recliners? You can buy my 2nd lazy boy for $25 and slipcover it!

I got mine on Craigslist for $50. Perfect condition! You should check there for a second one. Or the facebook buy/sell groups.

Re: Glider chair - 2nd baby
i would get a second chair for DDs room. That is what we did; moved the glider to the nursery since I spent more time there nursing the baby during the night etc (we put ds in his crib in his room when he was 1 week old). I would have been miserable if i was going into his room to nurse him in an uncomfortable chair.
We ended up putting a big old chair in dd's room and we used that for her bedtime routine (bottle and a book). she is almost 2 and now she just likes to sit on the floor for story time instead - but the chair is in there just in case.
i would suggest moving the glider into the nursery before the baby is born so DD has time to adjust to the new one and does associate the chair being moved with the baby.

Glider chair - 2nd baby
Personally I would probably skip it. You can always sit on the bed with your older one to read and snuggle. DH and I actually just sit on the floor to read to DD and then she and I sit on the bed while we sing to her and snuggle. DD2 is 6 weeks and I've yet to sit in the glider with her.

Glider chair - 2nd baby
I kept the glider in the nursery for the new baby, and used a rocking chair my mom had at her house in ds room. We sit there and read our stories each night.

We're in the same situation. DS will be 2.5 when DD is born. We plan on getting another glider for the 2nd bedroom. I couldn't imagine 2am feedings in DS's room with a crying baby!
