babysitter and a baby who does not STN
sooo, DH and i really do not have family members who can babysit our son.
He willl be 9 months and DOES NOT SLEEP THRU THE NIGHT. He will go in at 7:45 and can be up anywhere from 10pm and so on thru out the night- its a Scream not just a cry (we have tried to sleep train and CIO, he is just not ready)
what are your thoughts on having a babysitter once in a while on a weekend so hubby and i can catch a break etc.
I am not sure how i feel honestly.... I would prob not have a sitter, but looking for other feedback
Do we get a HS girl who is not experienced in this situation, where would we look to find someone who is and is not breaking the wallet
I have a girl at his daycare but she will only watch our son at her house and that is more of a project
Opinions please :)

I don't know ......it really depends on the person babysitting, and your child. Why is he waking up? To eat? or just to be consoled? If it's the latter, I don't think a babysitter is going to be much help ....KWIM?
What if you go out out earlier, and get home by 10?
I'd probably concentrate on sleep training him first .......I know that's easier said than done for some kids, but it's going to give you the most freedom

I personally would not get a hs girl at that age, or until they are about 3 and can communicate with me and are more self sufficient. That's just not what I would be comfortable with.
I would have an older woman, a mom with teenager or grown children. Or a friend.
Can you just go for a couple of hours for dinner?

How late are you planning on staying out? I would just go out around 6 and have her put DC to bed and be home around 10. If you are unfamiliar with the person, I would first use them as a mother's helper so you can see them interact with your DC.
We went out the other day and luckily he STTN, but many times he fusses at least once between his bedtime and our bedtime. I wouldn't let that stop us from going out. Our babysitter is 20 and one of my former students so I know her pretty well.

Re: babysitter and a baby who does not STN
Are you looking for someone to watch the baby for you overnight? Or just for a few hours so you and your DH can go out alone?
If I had a child that didn't sleep through the night, I wouldn't leave him/her with anyone other than a grandparent who was willing to watch them and be up a lot at night.
If you are just looking to go out to dinner, why not go to an early dinner and be home in time for bedtime? My DH and I do this all the time. We go out for 2 hours, and we are home in time for baths. My kids are 5 and almost 2, and we haven't had her put them to bed yet. My 2yo probably wouldn't fall asleep for our sitter, and it would be a lot to ask of her.
I actually like going out to dinner early. The restaurants aren't crowded, I can have a decent conversation with my DH, and I don't check my phone constantly worrying if my kids are tired-nightmares for the sitter. Besides, we are both so tired these days, neither one of us wants to have dinner at 9:00 at night and be out late.
It wont be like this forever, but it is like this for now. And we make it work. And it's better than it was a year ago when we never went out.

My older DS didn't sleep through the night until he was 18 months. We would usually get my parents or in laws to watch him but if they were busy, we would use a sitter and we would have her come around 5 and we would be home by 8:30-9:00.

it sucks but we just get home at a decent time, and only have family watch her. My daughter is 18 months and up every 2-3 hours. We try to go out earlier so I can be home. For weddings and stuff we make sure to get my mom and just tell her to keep her happy and do her best until I get home.
