Neverending Tantrums
DS is 2 1/2 and for the past 6 weeks or so, everything has been a fight. I mean, EVERYTHING. Brushing his teeth, changing diapers, putting on/taking off clothes, getting into the car seat. I can't do a reward system because there is nothing that he wants. I even went as far as offering a brownie in the morning, which he pushed away from me. Yesterday, for the first time, he refused to even go into daycare. I literally have to force his limbs onto clothes, while he screaming his head off. It has become so bad, that I go to sleep every night dreading the next morning. I just can't believe this is normal... is it?? Is there anything that can be done at all? I am at a complete and utter loss... all the while thinking, how can people do this more than once??

Re: Neverending Tantrums
I don't have any advice my DD is almost 2.5 and the same way some days. I am so happy for the good days to help me get through all of the bad ones. But between the pregnancy that ruined my body, the entire one to one a half years we got no sleep whatsoever, and now the terrible tantrums... I also have no idea how we are supposed to do this again LOL!!! But I guess they really are worth it. And well, we don't want to face getting old, right? All of her hugs and kisses make it worth it but the process is a purely torturous one.

I can't say my DD is always like that, but she often doesn't want to change clothes or get her diaper changed.

I cant offer any advice , but from the moms around me it does sound like its pretty normal. The one thing I can offer that has always helped me get through a rough time is knowing IT WILL PASS....you will get through this hard time.

Yes! DS has never slept through the night, and even that doesn't get me so mad... but the tantrums... I don't know. I am having a more and more difficult time being patient.

Neverending Tantrums
My dd has decided she hates clothes so I feel you. Many times I just ignore it. Redirecting does nothing for her. Yesterday I threw her in the car with no shoes and no jacket. I put the jacket on her when we got in the car like a blanket .
Is he very verbal? We find her tantrums are worse when she is frustrated that she can't tell us what she wants.

Yes! that's what we do sometimes also, no coat, no shoes. He does have a speech delay, he can communicate basic needs/wants, but nothing more than 1-2 words at a time. I have heard that speech is a major part of tantrums, so I try to keep that in mind.

Neverending Tantrums
have you tried giving choices? that worked (works) for my DS- he's 4 now. i think kids this age like to be in control... so even showing him 2 shirts and letting him pick which one you put on might help. kind of tricks them into thinking they're in control. and with going into daycare "do you want mommy to carry you in, or do you want to walk in?" again, gives him a little control. the car seat is tough... but maybe let him buckle the top buckle?? or give him a toy to hold once he gets in there without whining?? and brushing the teeth- i tell him we're gonna take turns and let him do it for a minute first, then i finish up. he's like thinking that he's doing it mostly by himself HAHA The book "the Happiest Toddler on the Block" has some good info on stuff like this so its worth checking out that and, yes... just keep reminding yourself that it will pass

Re: Neverending Tantrums
I have not had 6 weeks straight but have definitely had full 1-2 weeks straight of this type of behavior with my DS who is 2.5 years old. At one point a seriously thought he might just be possessed It was that scary. I think it makes all of the good days and weeks that much better when you come out on the other side though. I have definitely noticed he is MUCH worse when coming down with/dealing with or recovering from some type of illness pr cutting molars so maybe that is playing a roll for you? He seems the least reasonable at those times. But I hear you, it can be so tough to just get them out the door in the morning esp. when you have to be at work at XYZ time and end up in a rush! I have found getting my DS dressed while allowing him watch a curious george episode in the morning has really helped us (we were having major clothing/diaper issues prior to daycare) and I was exhausted before stepping foot into work.

YES!! I thought DS was possessed also lol! He looked right into my eyes and screamed so loudly at me that I was actually taken aback . He has been sick pretty much this whole month actually :( Went from strep, to someting viral with a fever lasting a week, and now it's pink eye! This has really been such a tough month for us. He was never easy, though, but it's such getting worse. I actually used to get him ready while watching curious george, but now he screams and runs when he sees me coming with clothes. Let's hope next month brings better behavior lol!

Thanks! I've tried choices but he takes both shirts and throws them on the ground lol. I'm going to look into this book, though. There has to be something else!
