Throw out the Breast Milk?
My daughter was born in May (a few weeks early), healthy except for jaundice. She had to wear those light blankets for a month to get her jaundice under control.
We noticed her face was always red and spotty, the pediatrician said it was normal baby acne.
It got worse and spread to her arms, hands, legs and feet. The doctor said it was eczema. She said it could be due to dairy protein allergy, so my wife cut out dairy, but it made no difference. The next time we went to the doctor he (different doc) said its not dairy - he said the amount thats passed to breast milk is too tiny to make a difference.
At 5 months, we decided to stop giving her breast milk (but continued to pump) and switched to Similac Alimentum.
Her skin hasn't improved, her eczema comes and goes. Some days its red and thick like chicken skin, other days its normal skin color and soft.
We took her to an allergist and did a prick test, turns out she is allergic to eggs. Even though there are no eggs in the Alimentum, her skin hasn't improved after being on it for 2 months, but thats another story.
My wife was eating eggs the whole time she was pumping. Should we throw out the frozen breast milk?
If DD is allergic to eggs, then she shouldn't drink the frozen milk, and even if she outgrows the allergy, by then the breastmilk won't be good anymore.
Thoughts? Thanks

Try contacting a hospital to see if you can donate it. DD was in the nicu at stonybrook and I was pumping way more than I needed. They mentioned that they can accept donations if you go through some kind of application process and testing.

So is it confirmed that we shouldn't feed it to DD?
Thats what I was wondering....
As for donating the milk, I'll speak to her about it.

I don't think you'll get a definitive answer here. Sometimes babies react to allergens through breastmilk and sometimes they don't. DD's eczema went away when I stopped eating dairy. The doctor didn't think it would help, but it did. Wish I knew how to fix it sooner because her fussiness improved too.

Throw out the Breast Milk?
I am battling eczema with dd currently. I had her tested for everything possible via the back prick and blood work. She's is not allergic to anything according to those tests. However I've found some research that indicates ezcema can be brought on by leaky gut. I have found by giving my dd a probiotic daily it's helped a lot but even more so by fermented foods, both have the "good bacteria" her stomach needed. I am not sure if your cd is too young but I would check with a doctor if you're allowed to give a probiotic in the formula/breast milk.
As far as throwing it away I would probably continue to use it, maybe alternate breast milk with formula. I know all the work it took to pump and if she hasn't had an improvement I would tend to think it's not eggs. But check with a doctor as what do I know!

If your wife was eating eggs you should not feed the milk to your daughter since she is allergic to eggs. For the record the information the second doctor gave you about dairy in breast milk is incorrect- If your child has a milk protein allergy it is possible for her to have a reaction to the trace amounts in breastmilk.

Foolish me...my wife stopped dairy, so I said "since you stopped drinking milk, start eating more eggs for more protein, etc..." so my wife ate a hard boiled egg every morning.

Thats what most people seem to think. So I am surprised the doctor said that.

No don't feed it to your baby. If your child has an allergy and the mother eats the allergy it's passed in the breast milk. That is why half of my friends who breast feed no longer have dairy OR eggs.
