Stomach bug
Thank goodness it's been a while since the boys had a stomach bug... till this morning. Just trying to remember how to treat it.
Anyway, my 3 year old (who never complains) threw up about 9 or so times this morning. He was lethargic too, but no fever. He napped a couple of times and has been pretty good for the last few hours. Had pedialyte and 2 pieces of toast.
Seems fine now. The PEd said to bring him in if he's dehydrated, but thank goodness he's good now. Just start out with small sips of pedialyte.
Worst part is today was his Hanukkah show at school and my family was all coming and of course he didn't go. At least he's feeling better now. Anyway, what are your steps when your LO is sick with the stomach bug? How long do you wait to give him/her to drink or eat or even go back to school. DS only goes Mon, Wed and Friday so obviously if he's fine the rest of the day and the next then he'll go Wednesday. Thanks

Re: Stomach bug
It just made it's way thru my house. Everyone was down for 12 hrs at a time and then gone. But for the days following, we kept a very bland diet... very little milk, lots of toast and apple sauce and waffles and pancakes. Anything that was easy on their stomach. While they were in the throes of puking, we kept to tiny sips of water and small bites of crackers and pretzles.
Oh and LOTS of Lysol... even though it didn't really help because anyone who stepped foot in my house during the week they were sick, even a few days after they had been sick - even with all of the cleaning and wiping and spraying I had been doing - ended up getting sick.
Hope they feel better!

Ugh! Thanks Yes... mopped, lysoled, wiped down, etc. I hope this is it. He's been ok for a bit. I'm just getting depressed seeing everyone posting pics and video from the kid's show today.

Keep cleaning. When my DS had it I got it a full week later. I thought I was in the clear and then BAM!!

Re: Stomach bug
Straight bleach is the only thing that kills the stomach virus. Bleach wipes or bleach based cleaners don't work.

Re: Stomach bug
Unfortunately it can live on surfaces for up to 2 weeks, so it's really hard to get rid of it. Check out stopthestomachflu.com. There is a lot of really helpful info there about cleaning, preventing it from passing to others, etc.

Re: Stomach bug
I had a little girl run out of dance class yesterday to throw up. Needless to say, I sent her home. I plan on bringing Lysol into work today and spraying the crap out of my room.
