Anyone have success with groupon or living social?

We are looking to do an all inclusive in January. We can only go for 5 days because DSD has to go back to college.
I found a few trips on groupon that look great. I checked the reviews for the resorts on trip advisor, one is 4 star all over the internet.
I'm just a little nervous, it seems almost too good to be true

Can anyone tell me their experience?

I haven't done a vacation through either but I did do a hotel in Canada through livingsocial. We had no problems at all.
We needed 5 room for a long weekend. I did call the hotel to make sure they had enough rooms available for the specific dates I wanted before I committed. I'd do it again.

My MIL booked a trip to Europe through Groupon. She had a great time.

I would just make sure there are no blackout dates and you have exact dates in mind.

I have a trip deal at a spa resort that I never used. I can still use it for the amount I paid but then it isn't a good deal and we have yet to go.

I also bought a great wolf deal once and we also couldn't use it in the time frame of the offer. We ended up paying the difference between what we paid for the deal and what the nightly cost was.

a friend went on an african safari and said it was amazing and has just booked a trip to see the northern lights not sure which site though

We just did a hotel stay through Groupon. It was fine. The only problem I had with it was that there was an additional fee - something like a tax difference fee- I took it to mean like we would have paid x dollars in tax if we paid full price for the room so we had to make up the difference so the hotel wouldn't eat it but it ended up being an additional $50. I'm sure that's what the cost of the hotel would have been had I just booked it through a travel agent. I don't know if it was just for that deal but it annoyed me.
