Timing for 2nd Birthday Party

I am trying to plan my sons second birthday party and for some reason I am being very indecisive.

I have 3 different choices with times: 12 to 1:30, 2:15 to 3:45 and 4:30 to 6. We would be having it on a Sunday

My son does not take a nap at a set time on the weekend but at day care his nap is at 12:30 to 2:30. My husband works at night so the later time would work out best with his schedule.

EDITED: I really think that the 4:30 to 6pm party is the one that works best so that my husband will not be a zombie (since he will be working from 11:30pm to 9am that morning) but would that be really inconvenient for people?

Timing for 2nd Birthday Party

Were you really up at 4:24am losing sleep over this?!?!

If my husband worked overnight and needed the day to sleep I would do 430-6pm and everyone can either come or not come. The important people WILL.

Timing for 2nd Birthday Party

Not losing sleep over it just got up to go to the bathroom. lol

I guess why I'm struggling is my husband thinks he will stay up and we can have it at 12 but I am concerned that 12 doesn't work because of naps.

Re: Timing for 2nd Birthday Party

I say 12 or 1:30 if your DH would be ok with that. On weekends we are much more relaxed regarding naps and if one is skipped for a party then so be it. DS has fallen asleep in the car, but once he's active at a party he's fine and will just go to sleep earlier that night.
Honestly, any of those times are fine. If we don't have any plans or it's something that can be moved around then we go.

We are doing a 4pm party on Sunday for a 3 yr old.
Works out best for many family members (outside of nap time & we will serve food).

I would do the 4:30pm... just because with naps you never know how they run during the afternoon, so I would say 4:30pm is safe.

ETA if my DH worked the night before, he would prefer to sleep during the day and go to a 4pm party vs one in the middle of the day.

Timing for 2nd Birthday Party

For a Sunday, I would do 12-1:30. Kids can take a later nap that day.

Timing for 2nd Birthday Party

I edited the above. I don't know why I am stressing out about whether it is annoying for other people but although I hate late Sunday parties I just can't see having it at noon and have my husband be a zombie since he will be working the night before from 11pm to 9am. He would try to take the night before off but it is not guaranteed that he would get off!

stop worrying! Family and friends will be there no matter what time. And it ends at 6, so I don't think its unreasonable.

I agree. I think your DH will be a zombie that day no matter what time, especially since he gets off of work at 9am. Even if the party is at 4, he'll only have a few hours sleep.

Unfortunately he always works those hours so he is use to being up at 4 and not being a zombie!

Timing for 2nd Birthday Party

Thanks to everyone who responded. I think I finally decided that I am doing the party at 4:30 to 6pm and whoever has a problem with it will just not come! I should be thinking about what works better for my me and my husband and not everyone else coming to the party!
