Lego question - Duplo, Lego Jr, and Lego
My just turned 5 year old just started getting into Lego's. He loves building tall towers and "cities" made of different sized buildings. He does this with Lego Duplo pieces that we got him when he was 3.
We want to buy him more Legos for Christmas but are unsure of what to buy.
Are Lego Jr's the same size as the regular Lego pieces? Or are they somewhere in between Duplo and regular Lego?
We have a 15 month old also so I'm afraid of regular Lego because I remember some of the pieces being so tiny. But I keep thinking he's too big for Duplo (although it's what he know and he has fun with them).
Which Legos would you recommend for my 5 yo?

I think lego Jr's are a little bit bigger than regular legos. But not by much. I could be completely wrong though as i have only seen them in ads. my 4 yo twins are getting legos for christmas but we are making a rule that they can't play with the legos while their 28 month old brother, who still puts things in his mouth, is taking his nap. And I will put a sheet down so they can only play on that sheet so we don't lose pieces.

Lego jr are the same size as legos - I just don't think there are as many pieces in each set than regular lego sets.
They have small pieces that will be everywhere even when you think you've gotten them all, there are still some lingering. I now just vacuum them up and told DS that they are too small and that's why Santa can't bring them for Christmas...he may lose them in his bag.

Lego Jrs are the same size as regular Legos - the kits are just easier to put together.
When DS first started getting into the regular Legos - we made him play with them away from his brother (which turned out to be in our room).
It's different now than it was when we were younger - I remember just getting boxes of Legos to build what you want - now they have so many more sets...

Re: Lego question - Duplo, Lego Jr, and Lego
My almost 6 year old has been playing with regular Legos since he was 4. He loves them and is amazing at putting them together. We can buy him ones that are recommended for older kids and he will sit there and work on putting it all together by himself. It's a great way to keep him entertained. My 2 year old loves the Duplos. I try to keep him away from the regular Legos, but he's pretty good with not trying to put them in his mouth. We try to store the regular Legos out of his reach.

Lego Jr is just easier "kits" to put together. But the size of the pieces are the same as regular legos.
I would not buy Duplos. My DS is turnign 3 this month and has had the regualr legos since he was about 2. He can't build the kits but he makes up his own things and loves it.
We always taught DS to not put any of his toys in his mouth. We have not had any issues with even the tiniest of Lego's

I had duplos got them on a steal. What a waste of money. They out grow that stage and really Legos are just better. Now I refuse to buy them as gifts for other people.
