Dr. Schwartz in Setauket??

Does anyone go to Dr. Irwin Schwartz in Setauket? Feedback?

The office seems SO nice and the staff over the phone has been wonderful.

He seems "sought after" as they are CONSIDERING US -- not us considering them LOL I feel like I'm applying to Harvard or Princeton

saw him once as a covering dr for our ped. He's ok. I wouldn't go back.Went in because my son had a fever and they focused on scraping wax out of his ears.

If it's the same Dr Schwartz I am thinking of, he was my pediatrician growing up. He is pretty sought after. Very gentile and very popular. I am shocked he is still taking on new patients.

ETA: let me know if you need a letter of recommendation. He knows our family well.

That is so bizarre that you basically have to apply to a pediatrician's office, and wait to get accepted. There are so many other good pediatricians, I don't think I would bother dealing with one like that to be honest!

LOL!!!!

When I first called, I was like I saw online that the doctor rates so well and we have been with the same ped since Julian was born and it's a large practice so we always see a different doctor. I like the fact that Dr. Schwartz is one doctor so we can build more of a relationship. Also, the one doctor out of the six in our current practice that we loved the most left a few months ago. She did not leave to go out on her own - she left the medical field all-together.

So, that was the first thing they wanted to know - like, why are you leaving? Are you a looney tune who isn't happy with docs and are going to give us a hard time?? THAT was the feeling I got. So, OK, understood.

Meanwhile, I'm the most laid back FTM - I don't get all crazed about this stuff and with docs - to me, they went to medical school, they know what they are doing - I just want a nice rapport and nice staff behind the desk, that's all.

Then, she was like let me take all of your information and I'll present it to the doctor and see what he says

Then they asked all about our insurance plan. I explained that it's very good insurance - DH is a teacher and the insurance is excellent. So, they wanted to really make sure that was the case lol and then they seemed happy.

I got a call back two days later and she said the doctor had additional questions LOL...

So, she was like how old is Julianna?? I'm like, it's JULIAN. She's like, OH, OK - how old is she? I'm like HE is a BOY. I said, it's JULIAN - like John Lennon's son, Julian Lennon??? No recognition. OK, fine.

She's like OK so how old is Julianne? I'm like IT IS JULIAN. HE IS A BOY. A MALE. LIKE JOHN LENNON'S SON - JUST LIKE JULIAN LENNON. She's like ohhhhhhhhh.



So, fine, and she was nice about it - just clueless. I said, he is fourteen months old. So, she asked about his interests. Umm food and sleep?? I kind of went into what he likes and dislikes - how much he loves music and how much he loves painting. She asked if he attends daycare, if I work full-time, etc. I said both DH and I work full-time and he is in an excellent daycare -- I explained where, she was very impressed with our daycare (SCORE!!) LOL!!

So, OK, she asked if he had any health issues. Anything out of the ordinary. She asked if he was up to date on his shots.

I mean, he's just a typical kid LOL What am I going to say??

And then she said that "this sounds GOOD" so then she said she would again relay this to the doc and then let me know.




At this point, I'm just going along for the ride because this is hysterical and bizarre at the same time.

I'm sorry but I'd tell them No thanks, this is too much work for you to be our doctor.
That to me is ridiculous.
His INTERESTS?
He's a baby. Pooping, eating, crying and sleep!

You should have said, Oh he enjoys pina coladas, and getting caught in the rain, and the smell of the ocean and the taste of champagne!

I can't with this. This is hilarious!

So, she sets up an appointment and asks again about immunizations. I said, we did space them out a little - with the help of our doctor, we let the doc choose of course but we spaced out a little.

So, she's like oh Dr. Schwartz will not do that. Dr. Schwartz is not comfortable with that. You'll have to go elsewhere.

LOL!!!! The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.

Honestly after the way they acted and how full of himself this man seems to be, you are probably better off.

Dr. Schwartz in Setauket??

That is SO WEIRD... because we go to Dr. Schwartz and he's a great guy-- everyone I know who goes to him LOVES him.. we didn't have any problems getting him to be our doctor... but we picked him before my DD was born so we didn't have any questionnaires to fill out... in utero, her interests were tap dancing on my ribs and head butting my bladder...
