Breast feeding question
My DSL is just over 2 weeks old and my milk is finally in to the point where I feel comfortable breast feeding and not exclusively pumping. My issue is that ds seems to favor my left boob and tends to fall asleep fast on my right, regardless if I start on the right or left, and I noticed that when I pump, my left gets essentially double what my right does. What can I do to even things out and get him to stay awake on the right?

To keep him awake, my dr recommend taking off his clothes.
I produce way more milk in my right side. I've tried everything to even it out, but nothing has worked. (More pumping and nursing on that side).

Re: Breast feeding question
My right always produced more than my left and my DD would fall asleep at either one lol. Just try to keep him awake like PP suggested.

Yup, take his clothes off and/or try tickling his feet.

Wet washcloth to the head was another trick the nurses told me about.
My lefty has always made double what righty does. It's totally normal.

Breast feeding question
My first was the same way. I called my left the pacifier. First of, don't worry about it too much now. It's not a terrible thing. I always started on that side for our first feeding of the day and all overnight feedings although that was when she was a little older and there were only one or two overnight. Try putting him on that side when he's sleepy. Another trick is letting him start on the favored side and then switching him once you get a letdown. I never felt like my supply fully evened out but she was fed so in the end it didn't matter much

One more. When you pump you can also pump that side a few minutes longer.

Try dabbing his face with a damp wash cloth to keep him awake. And until it evens out, always start w the right side so and maybe even pump the right side too. Resist the temptation to let him fully drain the left side or to pump the left side until your production evens out. Your body will regulate milk production on a supply and demand basis.
