Afraid in the bath
Dd is all of a sudden scared when bath time is over and I assume she sees the water go down the drain. Like hysterical screaming. Once I get her out she yells "bye bye water!" Is this very common and is there a way to ease her fears?
Also she's 26mos and still sits in a bath ring. I've tried to get her to just sit in the tub and she becomes hysterical. Also if she's standing only she cries as well. But desperate real crying. I can barely fit her in the ring anymore.

Re: Afraid in the bath
DS went through a phase of this for about 6 months when he was 3. First he became afraid of lint in the water from his toes so we had to start giving him "showers" where we ran the faucet and he stood the whole time. Then he got over that and started liking baths again but started to get scared of the water draining. We just made sure to take him out before draining the water and that seemed to work. Now he's 4 and we're back to normal baths again!

Afraid in the bath
Leb, I didn't go through this, but we have been giving DDs showers for the past few months. It's quicker and easier, and the rubber bath mat helps. They love walking back and forth through the stream and sliding their toys down the tub. Just an idea...

Re: Afraid in the bath
When Kenneth was little, my mom pulled the drain in the bath and it made a louder than normal suction sound and all the water started to disappear and Kenneth FREAKED the fuuck OUT. Then, he would freak out again each time the bath would almost be over.
Finally, my mom started taking him out BEFORE she drained it, drying him off, getting him in his PJs, etc. and then when he was off distracted by either a toy in another room or already in bed - whatever, she would drain it LOL.
The good thing is, at 35 years old, he is now able to watch and hear the water go down the drain. I'm not saying avoidance is the method to go with but it worked for my mother
