unimportant poll but just wondering...
Do you let your kids eat their candy while they are trick or treating or tell them to wait until they get home?

Both. They eat while trick or treating, and when they get home.

Mine isn't old enough yet but my parents always made is wait and then further wait until it was all inspected. I think 80s kids all fear needles in their candy bars and razors in their apples!

I let them eat one while tot and then 2 at home. The rest slowly will be given out and then thrown out. i do use a lot of it to decorate a ginger bread house for the holidays.

My son has a food allergy so he will always have to wait until we get home and I can check his candy to make sure it's safe.
My mom always made us wait too. She would throw out the "suspect" candy first. Then my brother and I would lay out our loot and trade.

I'd like to wait until we get home to check the candy and avoid a chocolate mess on her face/costume, but she's 3.5 and always right so to keep the peace I'll probably let her have a few if she asks.

Lol to the razor blades etc. As an 80's kid I relate. I was watching the news and they said only 1 kids has been poisioned in the last 15 yrs and it was by a family member. Yet im still weary bc of the fear instilled in me as a child!! Sad how we have no trust. Ps- no one near me trick or treated. When i was a kid the streets were packed

This! I think we let her have m&ms we got from my sister-in-law after we trick or treated there, but nothing else until after we got home and ate dinner. I also went through and picked out what she's not allowed to have (basically only the stuff she could easily choke on and anything with gum.)

This is exactly how it went in our house with me and my siblings! We have our kids wait till we're home too.

We like to inspect all candy and throw out any no name brand or anything we've never heard of before. Then they can have a piece or two that night. However, this year while trying to get a picture of my 3 kids and their 5 cousins together I noticed my son had something in his hand near his mouth. My SIL was standing there and I asked her what he had and my 2 year old had chewed his way through an M&M's bag. He's very sneaky that kid!

When I read that some of you only let your kids have one or two pieces that night I wonder if I'm a bad mom lol. The treats are all bite size, my kids eat more like 10. I mean, it's Halloween. Guess I'm nuts!
