When did you stop using a play mat(not the infant play yard but just the padding on yourbfloor)? Ds is 13 months and no longer needs the mat for falls etc. i took it away bc he started taking it apart (the puzzle style mat) and it was driving me nuts. I also hated cleaning it and under. Do 1+ yr olds still use matts and if so which one do you recommend?

At 2.5 we still have it down in her area of the living room. We have 2 or 3 sets from home Depot or Lowe's(I forget which). They sell a four pack of big squares with no cut outs to pull apart.

We have hardwood. I have one area rug and when she was little we had the large locking foam mats without pieces. I don't think it is worth investing in a carpet that is $$$ or mat because of the spills and messes. DD also doesn't sit still anymore so I would have to carpet the entire place and that is not happening!!! Think about gym floors---- it hurt when you fell but you still ran the next day!
