Baseboard Heat and the kids

Anyone have baseboard heat in their home? My boys are finally good sleepers. Well, my 3 yr old has always been. my 5 yr old took some time. He still gets restless, but stays in his room and goes back to sleep no issues. Never gets me up anymore.

Now that it is starting to get cold we will be using the heat. Issue is that it can get a little loud. You get used to it, but the ticking is annoying. I never had it before growing up so took some time to get used to.
When he was younger he would get scared. He gets it now, but I had to shut it off when he goes to sleep bc he says it's too loud and wakes him. He doesn't like the sound. Then if I turn it on after he goes to sleep there's a chance he could wake in the middle of the night and hear it.
Any advise? He's 5 so he doesn't want a sound machine. Said he's too big for it. I was able to use it last winter. I don't want to wake up cold and not keep the heat on. At least it's different zones so we have the downstairs turn on at 7AM so it warms up when we go downstairs.
Thanks!

Maybe get him one of those clock radios with sound machine. They are for adults.

My theory on any noise is just to go about your normal routine and they will adjust. My DS has learned to sleep through just about anything because we never changed anything we do.

He will get used to it. I grew up with baseboard heat and never noticed the sound. We have forced air now and you have the noise from that as well.
My one suggestion is make sure it is on a while before he goes to bed so the initial coming on of the heat doesn't coincide with bedtime as it is nosier then usually.

I'd tell him he can either get used to the noise or get a sound machine. My whole family uses the marpac ones, they're not just for kids!

Thanks. We did it all. Talked about it and how it's not scary, but just warms the room. He just says his room is warm so please shut it off.

I'll mention a sound machine again for the heat.

I grew up with them and never noticed a noise. We have them now and they make noises. DH says he has to bleed the air out. He probably won't lol, but maybe it would decrease the noise for you.

maybe music instead of sound machine?

DD got a cd player for xmas last year and we play kid cd's in it instead of the sound machine now. We have mickey, jake, sofia, and a few others that we rotate

As others said, I would try to just have him get used to it. I know mine always bothers me the first week or two then I don't really notice it much.
