2 year old fingers and toes peeling

My DS started getting this 1-2 weeks ago. I was reading it could be a sign of strep, scarlet fever, or hand-foot-mouth disease. He has had no other symptoms (no fever, rash, eating and acting fine etc). He has had his fingers in his mouth and seems to be getting molars, but now I see the peeling a bit on his toes too. Anyone have any experience with this? I plan on calling the Ped tomorrow.

No experience with the peeling but, do know of kids that have had strep with no real symptoms and no fever - in fact, last year strep went around my DS's class and many of the kids were asymptomatic except for an unrelated issue that landed them in ped (stomach ache etc, sibling sick, etc..).

Did he have an upper repository infection recently? My ds and I both had coxsackie(hand foot mouth) a few weeks ago and our fingers and toes are still badly peeling. The blisters were tiny and didn't like like "real" blisters so if your ds wasn't complaining it's possible you could have missed them at the time.

He had a cold about three weeks ago but just looked like a typical cold. Maybe that could be related ?

Is anywhere else peeling? No fever? Any rash on body? How does his tongue look?
My DD was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease last month, and peeling is a main symptom. See my post from sept about it.

Re: 2 year old fingers and toes peeling

my brother had it when he was little and DS has it.
Started when he was a baby and it continued until teenage years.

It gets worse in the winter and summer. Has to do with dry skin, water, and temperature changes. I just put lots of lotion on it and it usually heals pretty well.

Wow- I'm sorry you and DD had to go through that :( He does not have fever or a rash. No peeling other than on fingertips and toes. I will be watching super closely though!

Thanks. Peeling usually occurs at the end of the Kawasaki disease infection, like day 10+.
Just keep an eye, feel better.
