Holding Urine

i Know during potty training, some kids hold their bowel movements. But is it common to hold their pee? We are potty training DS and he only went on the potty 3 times yesterday ( no accidents), and easily had about 22 oz of liquid .

Yup some kids do it. My nephew is one.

IMO its a control thing. Toddlers try to have control wherever they can and when some go through potty training they see it as losing control over the diaper thing and then will hold pee or poop.

I went through this with DD. She went 12 hours + holding urine bc she didn't want to go on the potty and didn't want to go in the undies. It got so bad that I ended up giving up bc we were both miserable. Two months later and we're still trying but taking a very relaxed approach so not getting too far.

DD did this also. It drove me crazy! She would only go in a diaper. Finally she went. It's def a control thing. When I did the 3 day method I gave her a ridiculous amount of water to drink.

I once took dd to the ped bc she hadn't gone in over 18 hours. He said it's a control thing.
She's fine.

Yep my older ds did this - wouldn't go all day. I held off on training and did a couple of months later.
