Eczema & Sunscreen?
I know... summer is gone.. fall is here.. but I would still like to know. What do you use?
Twice this summer I've had to put sunblock on AJ. I used the neighbor's because we were out and hers was open and there and her BFF was using it so she asked if she could and I said sure.
OMG I paid the price!
She was all rough and bumpy, red and in pain for DAYS! It flared up the second day.
This weekend we were at a Corn Maze. Only 80 but in direct sunlight (no clouds) so this time it was Neutrogena and I figured sure why not. I forgot my sunblock at home (im notorious for this).
This time VERY lighly applied to exposed arms, legs, face and back of neck.
Her arms are now on fire. She has gotten so bad I had to put the steroid cream on her last night. The scaly part had raised up and taken form.
Her legs are bumpy but not red and her face has it under her eyes (you know the over the nose swipe). Back of neck was just a little red but nothing painful or itchy.
Was it the sunscreen, was it the sun, was it sweat? I don't know. We bathed her as soon as she got home. There was obviously lots of mold around and corn stuff (dried), hay and dust galore.
So process of elimination has begun .. I can't control the world but I can control what I put on her skin. So what do you use?
We already use the Eczema Body wash and shampoo by California Baby as well as the Eczema cream.

Eczema & Sunscreen?
My SS has bad eczema and we always use the kid sunblock, water babies I think it's called. It never we flared up or got irritated because of the sunblock. I think the sun can irritate eczema though becuase we went to DR in August and it was bothering him. I had to keep yelling at him to put the cortisone cream on and stop scratching. I thought it was because Caribbean sun is hella strong.

We used to use Water BAbies - but the last summer or two it seemed to irritate DS's skin. Our pediatric dermatologist (Dr Kristal) recommended Blue Lizard. We have used that without a problem. We also tried BabyGanics this summer and it worked well.

Eczema & Sunscreen?
Vanicream and CereVe have sunscreens. I get them at diapers.com My son has terrible eczema and we use CereVe moisturizer in the tub so we used their sunscreen all summer.

Re: Eczema & Sunscreen?
My boys can only use Blue Lizard or they get a bad eczema flare. I buy 3 big bottles at the beginning of the season and keep one in each bag.

Eczema & Sunscreen?
I've had luck with baby aveeno sunscreen. DS has terrible eczema, but this feels more like a cream than a sunblock and his skin is always fine after using it.
