Do you bring your child to the Pedi for a cold?
I'm pretty sure my 7.5 month old son has a cold.
He has a runny nose (clear discharge) and a little bit of a cough.
Should I bring him in to the Pediatrician? I'm not sure he will be able to do anything for him. I don't want to waste his time or waste a co-pay.
He's had it for about a week now.

Is he running a fever or pulling at his ears? Does he seem very fussy? If not, then no, I wouldnt go in.

If there's a fever involved I call, generally will go in if it persists to rule out ear infection or strep.

Nope. Unless the cough gets really bad or there is a fever.

No fever, but for the past two nights he wakes up after we put him to bed and won't go back to sleep unless my husband or I are holding him. He usually sleeps through the night.
Saturday night my husband was away and he was screaming bloody murder any time I tried to put him down in his crib or swing. I wound up letting him sleep in bed with me (which I'm very against). I got zero sleep and I could tell he was super tired all day.

Nothing they can do so it's a waste of a trip.

We go if we are concerned about the cough (wheezing), if there is a fever or if we think that his ears are bothering him. Just a runny nose we just wait it out.

This happened with my DS two weeks ago. It lasted 2-3 nights. He probably cant breath and it is hard for him to get comfortable. DH and I took turns holding him etc. Once he started feeling better he went back to normal :)

if the cough starts to get bad I will bring them and/or there is a fever. it usually means a sign of a ear infection. my DD children very rarely gets a fever for an ear infection so bad cough will be my indication.

Re: Do you bring your child to the Pedi for a cold?
I just had my 6 month old at the Pedi for a cold. I got very nervous about this Enterovirus. I basically took him in just to make sure that his lungs are clear. The Pedi office said that there is a cold "running rampant" and it usually takes about 7-10 days to clear up.

Re: Do you bring your child to the Pedi for a cold?
If the cough sound bad or I can hear chest congestion my girls go to the doctor. My youngest has asthma so I am hyper vigilant. For just a sniffling nose and a little cough I would wait it out especially if there is no fever.
