birthday cake recipe
My son will be 4 and I would like to attempt to make him a cake. Any simple but delicious recipes anyone can share? I am not much of a cook. Thanks!

Re: birthday cake recipe
I make this recipe all the time. It is very goo and pretty easy. The key to any cake is to mix it with a mixer for the time the recipe calls for then a little bit longer in in order to break down the bonds of the egg, also do not over bake it.
Annie's Eats Vanilla Bean Cupcakes
She has a link to the frosting she uses, but I prefer the pioneer woman's recipe.
Tasty Kitchen Vanilla Frosting
The Annie's Eats frosting is very good, i think it's just too much Vanilla with the cupcakes. The pioneer woman/tasty Kitchen recipe is a better match for the vanilla bean Cake.

If you want a chocolate cake, do the recipe on the back of the Hershey's cocoa powder container. It's incredibly light and moist!

Re: birthday cake recipe
I usually do boxed yellow or marble cake and put fondant on it. My favorite filling is raspberry. I get the polaners seedless and a small box of raspberry jello. I heat the polaners in the microwave for about 30 seconds then add about half a bag of the powder jello. When it hardens it's a nice jelly like consistency for a cake. I put it in the cake right away. No need to wait till it hardens.
