Two dc sharing a room (different ages)??
I have 1 dd, and I'm preg now. We have a 3 bedroom house, but no basement so I like using the 3rd bedroom as a playroom. My dc will be 2 1/2 yrs apart. If the next one is a girl i 'd love for them to share a room. My question:
How did your older one sleep when the baby started sharing the room? I'm scared it's going to mess her up. Would you suggest I start the baby in the other room and then have them share later on? Or start getting them used to it right away?

Re: Two dc sharing a room (different ages)??
I dunno, I did something wrong, my two are two years apart. Right now the 2.5 year old is in my bed and I'm on a recliner holding my 8 month old. It's nuts. My older one was doing okay in crib/toddler bed.. And then when baby turned 6 months we tried to transition from rock and play to crib in same room as the 2 year old.. And it went down hill from there... But I'm sure it can work just not sure how

Re: Two dc sharing a room (different ages)??
Thanks! That's what I'm afraid of. My dd is such a great sleeper right now and I really don't want to mess that up. I'm thinking starting in the other room might be better until they are a little older

Re: Two dc sharing a room (different ages)??
Mine are 1.5 apart. We had them together, then tested separate bedrooms... Both were scared of being solo, so together they went. Mine are boy/girl and at 4 & 2.5, that is not an issue. They don't wake each other up. Don't know why, but it's true. I think we stuck them together at about 4 months.

Re: Two dc sharing a room (different ages)??
My DC don't share a room at home but they have while on vacation or visiting family and it hasn't been a problem at all. We have always used sound machines so even when DD was a baby she wouldn't wake DS. That being said, when she was a newborn I wouldn't have them share because she was up a lot at night to feed, so it was just easier to have her with me.
ETA: Mine are also 18 months apart

I've been meaning to post the same question. Ours will be a little over 2.5 years apart and sharing a smallish room. We haven't transitioned DD to a toddler bed yet but I want to do it very soon so she's used to that before the new baby comes. We'll start the baby in our room in the bassinet and then if all goes well transition to the crib around 2 months. No idea how it's going to work but I'd love to hear how others made it work too.

Re: Two dc sharing a room (different ages)??
I've been wondering the same thing. I'm due with #2 in Dec. and my DD just turned 2. They'll be sharing a room eventually, but idk when. Honestly, I was thinking we'd prob have the baby in our room for like a year, lol. DD still has nights where she doesn't sttn. I'll have to see how the next one is as far as sleeping is concerned.

Re: Two dc sharing a room (different ages)??
I have 3 kids. My twins are almost 3 and share a room and my youngest is 17 months and has his own room. One of my twins is not the best sleeper and wakes sometimes in the middle of the night while my other 2 sleep great. We're actually thinking about swapping and putting the baby with the good sleeper so his brother isn't constantly waking him up although for the most part he has learned to sleep through it.
My point is I wouldn't worry about the ages. As you can see the 2 that are the same age have totally different sleep habits. If it were me, I would try to keep the baby in my room as long as possible (for all those middle of the night feedings.)
