What exactly do you do to become part of a church and be able to get your child's christening done there?

DW and I are both Catholic but neither of us regularly attends church or lives close to where we were baptized/ did communion/ confirmation.

Also, we need a "friendly" church. Recently, friends went to one in Bellport but their family had been going there for years.

Find a church the suits your needs and call the rectory to discuss how to become a parishioner. There really shouldn't be any guidelines to "join".

You don't have to join a church to have the christening there. Just call the rectory and ask what needs to be done. Each church functions slightly differently.

Also, its free so if they ask for mandatory $$$ find a different one.

My parish requires you become a parishioner before you can have your child baptized there-it was simple I jurt had to fill out a form. It asked for name, address, etc. I would find a parish you like and then inquire about joining.

I agree to look for a parish you would like to join and then inquire about how to do so. I looked into different parishes by just going to mass at a few of the churches nearest to where we lived.
