When to stop swaddling

DS is 16 weeks old today. He is a great sleeper (10-11 hours per night). He has been sleeping in a "woombie", a zip up swaddle that I can take his arms out of if I decide to do so. At what age do I stop swaddling him?

I started weaning once the kids started rolling over every so often. My twins were about 5.5 months and my DS was about 4 months.

We stopped swaddling when DS started rolling over and fighting the swaddle. He'd spend so much energy trying to get his hands free that he'd totally wake up.

For now, if your baby is sleeping 10+ hours a night I wouldn't change anything.

Re: When to stop swaddling

We stopped at 6 months because he was just too big to fit in them at that point.

I would have swaddled forever if I could have. DS slept like a champ in that swaddle.

When to stop swaddling

At 5 months. DD loved to be swaddled, but at 5 months she was waking up because her pacifier had fallen out and she was fighting to roll over.

Re: When to stop swaddling

At around 5/6 months he was just too big.

He was very SAD to see it go. We had one night of crying for quite a few hours when he had to give it up. But after the one night, he was fine.

Poor thing, he was ready to give it up but not ready at the same time! Chat Icon

We used the miracle blanket and stopped when it was recommended to stop. I think about 4 months. She went into a sleep sac after that.
