Hi Ladies. I went for my first appt at 6 weeks yesterday. Now I am not sure if I am overreacting, so I figured I would ask you ladies.

At the appt, they did a urine test just to confirm the pregancy, they did a blood test just for the beta results, and they weighed me. Then they scheduled me for a sono at 8 weeks, and then an appt with a high risk dr for 12 weeks (at this appt they will do all of the blood work---they said they send everyone to the high risk).

Anyway, my aunt has a condition called APS---it is when the blood clots and cuts off blood supply, causing miscarriage. I asked my dr to send me for the blood test, and he said I would have it done at 12 weeks.

When I got home, I realized that I do not want to wait til 12 weeks, because in case I do have it, it would most likely end in a lost pregnancy if not treated. So I called him back to ask if he can write me a prescription for the blood work. He called me back and said that I should wait until 12 weeks. I then explained to him that I would rather go now, for fear that I might have it. He said that even if it does come back positive, they couldn't do anything unless they knew that I had a viable prenancy. So I said to him, if it came back that I had it, you would not check sooner to see if I had a viable pregnancy--that at 6 weeks you could almost always see a heartbeat....and he said you know what, do what you want. I was and still am sooo mad. Would this bother you, and if so, would it cause you to switch doctors? Thanks....sorry its so long.
