If you had an eval done at what point did you do it? DS is 12 months and I am being told too young for an eval.

DS is 12 months and im still only getting Da-Da (and other babbles)... he is already getting therapy for gross motor delay (which took over 2 months to come through), so I figured I would want to start this as early as possible.

Re: speech therapy
18 mos but I started the ball rolling just shy of 18 mos so the eval would be when she just turned 18 mos. but you want to be sure she's at least 18 mos when evaluated because you want her compared to other 18 mos old. If she's even 17 mos, 28 days, her scoring is compared to the 15-17 month old group.

Re: speech therapy
I would def recommend waiting until 18 months. I had my daughter evaluated at 15 months and she ended up not qualifying bc she got credit for things such as joint attention, eye contact etc bc she was in the 12-18 month range. So those things brought up her overall speech score.
As long as your child is making some sort of sounds, chances are he/she won't qualify at that age.

Did you child wind up qualifying at 18 months? did you see improvement?

Re: speech therapy
Put in request for eval right before 15 months, he was evaluated at 16 months and services began at 17 months.

At 12 months my ds didn't say anything. By 18 he was chatty and now at almost 3 there are some days I wish he didn't talk as much.....lol
I wouldn't freak yet. Give it a few more months.

Re: speech therapy
I just got the paperwork to have my 20 month daughter evaluated. The doctor said to wait til she turns two because her receptive language is so good, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to do it now. She only says ma da but does babble a lot. Our initial meeting us in 2 weeks.

Re: speech therapy
11 mo but I originally thought she had motor skill delay. They brought up other concerns I didn't see and did a speech eval. She qualified but they didnt give services until 15 mo. (We got family training in the meantime)
