Disney world presidents week?
Hey,
Opinions on presidents week at disney world? Have spent Christmas there in the past, and at times there was gridlock in the parks. Is presidents week like that? I've looked at crowd calendars, but can you really tell the difference between crowd levels of 8 vs 10? Going at an off time is not an option right now. We would be staying on site.

We stayed this past Feb. break there...It was crowded but not horrible...never waited more than 30 minutes for a ride (without FP)...and honestly Magic Kingdom was the most crowded out of all the parks and it was not as bad as I expected. The other parks were fine...

We went to mk that Wednesday and AK that Friday and both were pretty dead imo

Does anyone know what kinds of deals, if any, have been run in the past for that week? Can't really find any info online and am hoping for something..anything, lol

We would be driving.
Hopefully orbitz has 2015 rooms available soon. I've been able in the past to use their codes on disney resorts without restriction for some pretty good savings. Hopefully! Thank you :)

I like Orbitz for their codes. I know 4th of July wasn't blacked out, as we extended our stay this Summer while at WDW, and used a code. So I don't think PW would be. Most people don't have the whole week off like we do. I think Disney doesn't discount anymore because the Princess marathon is that week. They used to discount that week.

Do you have any idea how the marathon impacts Magic kingdom? I'm assuming sections closed off, like for parades?

The marathon is in the morning before the parks even open. Roads are closed off at certain times, but if you are using Disney transportation, it's not an issue!

We were there last presidents week- I ran the princess half marathon. I was pleasantly surprised at the crowds. It wasn't empty, but it was was totally manageable and we had a great time. We stayed the Wednesday after Presidents' Day through Monday, and were able to get a discount on our room - only the actual holiday weekend was blacked out. We booked through disney. I'm pretty sure the discounts came out in the fall so keep your eye out!

I wasn't able to get a room only discount for that entire week, it was blacked out. We stayed Tuesday after PD to the following Tuesday and those were blacked out for us. Weird... Did you book through the Marathon pricing?

Do you guys recommend going to the park that has morning magic hours? We have only stayed on site when crowds were low, so it sort of didn't matter and we did the morning magic hour and stayed the day at that park. I know crowd calendars tell you to avoid the park with extra hours, or to go in the AM and then go to another park. I'm trying to avoid buying the park hopper because we bought it last trip and didn't use it.

No, I just booked it through the regular site. We stayed at the Yacht Club. I made the reservation over the summer and rebooked it when the discounts were released. Maybe the Wednesday arrival vs Tuesday made the difference.
