Christmas?
Is going away on Christmas good or bad, meaning... do a lot of people travel/go away, or is it a low week for places and do they offer specials to entice you there? I would really like to go away for Christmas and not spend it with the in-laws but I can't even attempt to persuade DH unless the rates are good and the crowds are low.

Christmas?
It's a busy time since schools are closed. Flights are usually $$$. It's cheaper to go away before Christmas (and maybe return that day).

Re: Christmas?
Christmas break is usually triple the price, between hotels and airfare, especially to the Caribbean.
A villa that rents for 4000 for a week in St. Barts will be 20k that week of Christmas and new years.

Re: Christmas?
It depends on where you go. We were able to find good deals for a trip to Europe (leaving the evening of 12/25) about 2 years back, but then we got pregnant and didn't end up,going. We also went to FL after Christmas. We had to take a 6am flight to afford the flight but it was financially do-able.

Re: Christmas?
Christmas is considered high high high season for most hotels and resorts. You will pay through the nose. better to go a little before or after the holidays for better deals.

Re: Christmas?
You could probably cruise out of NY fairly reasonably. But your weather will be iffy.

Re: Christmas?
I believe it is the priciest time to travel if you are planning to fly south to somewhere warm. Flights and hotel are $$$.

Christmas?
Yes, as a travel agent it the busiest time of year for the Caribbean and Florida. People book their trips in Jan or Feb the year before, esp if it's a recurring vacation.
