Did anyone use a doula?
Hey everyone
Just found out that DH and I are going to be first time parents! Super excited - and overwhelmed - and FREAKING OUT.
I was really considering using a doula and was hoping for some recommendations. We live in Williston Park (Nassau County) - I plan on taking full advantage of the epidural (so I don't want a doula that would want to give me a guilt trip) and I would like for the doula to also be able to give any needed breastfeeding support/lactation counseling. I will likely be delivering at LIJ in NHP....
Thank you so much for any advise!!

It's a great idea to use a doula, even if you plan to use an epidural- great for you guys!
I had actually contracted this woman: http://www.labouroflovedoulas.com/
Vicky Moody but there was a two day window when she told me she would not be available and as luck would have it I went into labor on one of those days so I ended up delivering with her back-up, Helen Dresner. I don't have first hand experience with Vicky but what I think is a great fit for YOU is that she has birthed her own children with and without epidurals. She did not seem at all judgemental on the matter and I think you'd be very happy talking to her.
I LOVED Helen Dresner and would recommend her hands down to anyone: https://lidoulas.com/Labor_Doulas.html.
SO there you go, two great options
Good luck!
