New Respitory Virus Reported
I was a little hesitant to post this because I didn't want to cause freak out but thought it would be good to share.
Respiratory Virus
FYI.. Unrelated if you get the flu vaccines, don't forget to get it before the mayhem begins.

New Respitory Virus Reported
I swear my DD had this a couple of weeks ago, though it wasn't diagnosed! So scary, but at least doctors / parents are very aware and can seek treatment right away.

New Respitory Virus Reported
My DS1 has asthma and was sick most of last winter in daycare. I'm petrified of this virus!
Thanks for reminder about flu vaccine. Called and am bringing DS1 in for shot on Friday. We missed our window last year bc he was sick every other week since Sept. He ended up with the flu in February. don't want to miss window again.

The flu shot will not protect you against this virus as they're two completely different viruses.
In my house we are being proactive this year and upping the good food along with elderberry syrup, essential oils and I change dd immediately out of her daycare clothes. I am hoping out immune systems will be enough.

New Respitory Virus Reported
Not new.. been talking about it for weeks. Its been on CNN and blah blah.. fine print says its always been around. Just kids are going to the hospital more now than before. There's no vaccine, no cure-all treatment. Its contracted and starts like a cold. Standard hygiene pre-cautions can easily make it avoidable.
ETA: it was brought up last week when I didn't like to spread vicks on me! LOL
Allergies are kicked up a bit and folks here are all screaming E-D68!! Unless you have Serious respiratory concerns it could be just a cold or allergies (at least here) but folks are rushing to hospital and so the numbers are up with suspected cases. Doctors are (reasonably) taking a cautious approach. Last week it was 10 states and the furthest west was OK and I think Virginia was the farthest east? Now Cali is talking about it hitting them. Pandemic is the word I'm waiting to here. So close to the Flu season it only a matter of time. About every year this time things gets crazy.

Re: New Respitory Virus Reported
Here's the link from last week:
CNN Link
Been around since 1962
"No reason to be alarmed, but watch the child"
Which really isn't that always the case.. if your child has a cold.. fine.. but if they are lethargic (with or without a fever) or having trouble breathing I know I'd be sitting in a doctors office demanding care. If they have asthma or a pre-existing condition aren't you always on high alert for any troublesome behavior? Even a common cold can get nasty for an asthma suffering child. Just as an allergy attack or a sniffle was bothersome to me when AJ was an infant since it ALWAYS meant an ear infection was to follow. Others may thing "who cares its just as sniffle" and they were right. I just knew for my kid, I had to watch and wait.
Same with this. School's back in session so its spreading faster... but we started school earlier than the northeast.
I'm not saying its not real or a legitimate concern, but I'd say its not an epidemic or 'lets make a shot for that' thing either.
ETA: and be your kid's advocate. I forced them to see AJ THREE separate times when I thought she was seriously ill. They kept sending us home. Finally on the 3rd time they realized we both had H1N1. Our false negatives through them. I just kept pushing and pushing. I may not have a PhD but I know my kid and if I say she ain't right.. she ain't right!
