Moms of 2... diaper bag question...

If you never really used a diaper bag with #1, did you need a diaper bag for #2?

We used a diaper bag for the first few weeks with DS but I hate diaper bags and didnt need to carry all that much because I was usually out with the stroller and I was EBF so I didnt need bottles, formula, etc. I just used a longchamp bag with a few essentials in gallon ziplocs.

Now that DS is older I usually carry some snacks, a straw cup, spare undies and spare shorts in whatever bag I am carrying that day. (And, since we live in the burbs I can always keep some backup items in the trunk of my car, an option we didnt have in the city).

When #2 comes, will I suddenly need a diaper bag? It has been a while so I honestly dont even really remember what I would need to cart around besides diapers, wipes, aquaphor, a change of clothes, and a few toys.

If you didn't use one for the first kid, you probably won't need it for the second either.

I'd wait till after the baby's here to decide if you want to buy another. You can always use whatever bags you have at home in the meanwhile.

if you can fit diapers, wipes, small toys, changing pad and a change of clothing in your bag (or keep them in your car/stroller) you wont need to carry a diaper bag.

i opt to carry a tiny purse around for me (basically holds wallet and keys) and when im with my kids (2 under 2) i carry a somewhat large vera bradley tote bc i need diapers for both, toys for both, change of outfit for both etc...way too much to keep under the stroller

I have 2 (they were 2 under 2 actually) and I rarely use/used my diaper bag. When we do weekend outings where we'll be gone all day, DH will throw the things that you'd usually throw in the diaper bag into a plastic grocery store bag, which always makes me .

I definitely have occasions where it comes in handy but I wouldn't say it's an absolute necessity. Mine can go a month or more at times without being touched.

I say yes, you need one. If you are carrying those few items in bag now........where will stuff go for #2
