DS Starting Daycare
Just looking for some reassurance.... DS is starting daycare Monday. I go back to work Wednesday. He will be 12 weeks. I worked right up until day before he was born (planned c-section because breech) so I was able to use my whole maternity leave to be with him. I've been freaking out about leaving him. I'm crying now just thinking about it. He'll be there 9 to 10 hours a day.
I know I need to go back to work, not just for the money but I don't want to give up my career. I'm worried about not concentrating at work because I'll be worried about him. I'm worried he will cry all day and not get attention. He likes to be held and it's hard to just put him down. He does sleep in his crib so that's a good thing. I thought about doing a nanny instead but either way it's not me or DH with him and that's what I really want.
Anyway.... please tell me it'll be okay. I know the adjustment will be hard. Everyone else I know was lucky to have family watch their DC while at work.

Re: DS Starting Daycare
I went back to work when DD was 8 weeks old. I was nervous, it's totally normal! But as long as you have a daycare you trust, you and he will be FINE.
I was so worried because DD was colic and never slept. I remember crying to my mom the week before that she would be thrown out of daycare for being such a bad baby.

Within a few days, they had my DD sleeping better, eating better, crying less. Fact is, the teacher in the infant room had a LOT more experience than me (as a mom and a daycare provider) and she was able to get DD to do things I couldn't.
DD was loved, cuddled, nurtured. I would come to get her and the DIRECTOR would be in the infant room snuggling with her and saying she just needed a baby fix. She couldn't have been in better hands. I felt like i was leaving her with family.
In a few weeks, you will get in a groove, see your DS thriving there and learning so much. It will get easier!

I was going to type out DS's story but its the same as above. DS was also colic and cried 24/7. His first daycare day he cried 2x.
I knew I wanted to be back at work and I think that helped.

Re: DS Starting Daycare
Thank you for sharing. I'm going to start him Monday before I go back so I can be nearby just in case and so I can get any crying done before going back to work!
