Large family vacations?
My grandfather treats the whole family to a vacation every other summer. We have done about 6 cruises over the last 12 years or so. The last cruise, my brother's fiance came with us for the first time. The weather was horrible and she was sick every day. Needless to say, next summer (after they'll be married) we'll be skipping the cruise and looking for something land-based. DH and I will have our 8 month old boy with us this time (yay). Any recommendations of where to go? With baby boy it will be 12 of us on this trip ranging in age from 8months to almost 83 (my grandparents). We like the cruises because it usually gives everyone the opportunity to do whatever they want during the day while we all come together at night for a nice sit-down dinner. I'm not worried about flying with a baby.

Large family vacations?
We are doing a house with my DH's family next summer. We are going to the Outer Banks, NC. Its a 7 bedroom house with direct beach access and pool and hot tub.
We also have a wide range of ages. The youngest will be my son unless one of us has a baby by then and the oldest is 91.

Re: Large family vacations?
I was going to say the Outer Banks, too! great place to spend a week with the family! there are some HUGE houses you can rent- some with elevators, 10 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, etc. so I'm sure you could find one that works for you guys. and a lot of the bigger houses have their own pools and hot tubs. if you stay in the duck/kitty hawk/ nags head area there is a lot of shopping, mini golf courses, etc. plus the wright brothers first flight memorial and a couple lighthouses which are cool to see. you can also do things like rent a jeep and drive on the beach, go horseback riding on the beach... and if you go down to hatteras island you can rent little sailboats and jet skis. the only thing is that a lot of the houses that are close to the ocean are up on "stilts" so there are a lot of steps, so make sure you check that situation out for your grandparents and anybody else.

Re: Large family vacations?
how about an All inclusive in the Caribbean or Mexico? Or renting a house on a beach somewhere either in the US or in the Caribbean?
