Re: 3+ year age gap

my oldest will be 4 next month & my newest is 5 months. age gap is perfect!! my older one is GREAT at being mommys helper (like running to get the burp cloth out of arms reach) hes old enough to 'get it' and is potty trained which makes life easier!!! he definitely has his moments of jealousy, but i really have to say that 90% of the time my older one is a huge help & loves his brother!!

good luck to you!!!

It's great. they are almost exactly 3 yrs apart. and my older one was great. She wanted to help was set in a good routine, understood everything. they are best friends and enemies, lol, but what siblings aren't. lol

My older is like a mommy and helps her sister anyway she can

its so sweet watching them together

My kids are exactly 4.5 yrs apart. I never planned on having such a large age gap but it's been a blessing in disguise.

It was so much easier when my DS arrived because my DD was already so self sufficient and she ended up becoming a huge help with the baby. She loved to play with him and take care of him. Because she was older she also had a really good understanding of what was happening, how things were going to change with the new baby arriving, and she wasn't stressed or upset or about. Having our DS join the family was a pretty easy, natural transition.

I love the bigger age gap, it's just made everything easier. And the other nice thing was a few months after he was born she started Kindergarten so for him, he gets a lot of alone time with me during the day like my DD had. He gets to be an only child for a few hours!! Chat Icon

Re: 3+ year age gap

DS#1 was almost 4 when DS#2 was born. It's mostly been great. I won't say DS#1 is super helpful - well, sometimes he is if he feels like it he'll get a diaper for me or something - but he's so cute with his baby brother. And he loves him sooo much! And the baby adores him - just laughs and smiles at him all the time! It's really super sweet! And I don't think I would have been able to have two that I had to feed and change diapers and all that at once so it's worked well for us!

Good luck!!Chat Icon

Re: 3+ year age gap

mine are 3 1/2 years apart and I LOVED it. Thank god for the age gap because #2 had horrible reflux, colic and screamed for 4 hours every night.

So i was thankful that my 1st was old enough to understand and to be patient with mommy.

3+ year age gap

Mine are a little more than 3 1/2 years apart and I love it. My oldest does his own thing and was very helpful when the new one came along. It's. A good gap with school as well. Not they are 5 and 17 months and the best if friends

3+ year age gap

DDs are 4.5 years apart and the first few months were tough for my older DD. She loved her sis immediately but did not love sharing attention and was jealous. As DD2 gets bigger and more interactive my older one loves playing w her and helping take care of her. The baby is easy going and adores her big sister. Id just recommend making the older one feel special whenever you can and involve her in the care of the younger one.
