Anyone had this? Update in 1st post croup?

Has anyone had this?

Yesterday my younger one woke around 630. Drank two drinks but at breakfast said her tummy was hurting. She was 100.5. She passed out at 930. Slept until 230 or so, woke up drank gatoraide, a little tea, went to the bathroom and went back to sleep. She had 99.9 at that time. She sleeps for a few hours, wakes up, drinks and uses the bathroom. She is talking normally just complains her stomach hurts and wants a hot water bottle. She goes back and forth between 100.6 and 99.9. She is drinking but is still sleeping and has only been up like 2 hours total in 24 hours.

Now my older one came home from Grandma's sleepover saying her tummy hurts and she has 100.6. She is drinking but not eating and is napping.

No sore throat, no runny nose or cough, no vomiting or diarrhea. At first I thought my younger might be having a shot reaction to the Dtap she needed for school and got on Thursday. But now with my older one getting the same symptoms....and no shot.

Anyone had this????

UPDATE....So now my younger one has been fine since yesterday. My 7 year old is on day 3 and now has 102.6 and croup. We were just at the doctor yesterday to get a strep test and she was doing better.

Re: Anyone had this?

My DS's friend just had something similar - low grade fever for 3 days - only other symptom - no appetite. Strep test was negative. On the 4th or 5th day once the fever was gone, the cold symptoms appeared (cough, congestion).

Hope they feel better soon!

Re: Anyone had this?

Both my daughters had exactly this. Both of their stomachs were hurting for days and they had low grade fevers. My one daughter one sore in the back of her throat. Doctor said it was hand throat and mouth (coxsackie)

Neither girl has any pain in their throat, and their throats look clear. No rashes or blisters anywhere. I will watch for that.

Sometimes strep can present as a stomach ache with no signs of strep in the throat (white spots, red throat etc).

A mild case of coxsackie could have those symptoms too. Not every kid gets the blisters and sores, or crazy fever, etc.

Virus. My son just had this. No appetite. Very sleepy and fussy (12mo). When I took him to the Dr because of the fever, they said it's viral and has been going around.

Hope they feel better soon!

DD had a day where she threw up a few times. The next day she was fine and the following day she had a mild fever followed by a rash the next day. Doc said coxsackie and that it can cause nausea. Her rash was just on her legs and no blisters except a few in her throat. Hope they're doing better!

Younger one is fine today. Older one has a sore throat. Her throat is red, no blisters, no rash, no nausea. Low fever 100.6. Strep was neg but waiting on culture bc ped said it was a maybe. She wasn't convinced it was coxsackie either. It could be, but it could be a different virus.
