Dairy allergy -pumping/BF question
Our pediatrician suspects that DD has a milk allergy and told me to cut dairy out of my diet (I am currently pumping). Does anyone know how long it will take for dairy to be "out of my system"?

Dairy could remain in your system for up to a month. That being said, when my first son was diagnosed with milk protein allergy at 6 weeks, ped advised me not to nurse for 3 days. That gave the dairy time to at least weaken in my system.

Dairy allergy -pumping/BF question
My DD's allergist said it can take a few weeks for the protein to be completely out of my system. He did NOT advise me to stop nursing and I have nursed through eliminating , adding back and eliminating foods for a second time- if you suspect your child is sensitive to dairy it is advised that you eliminate ALL cow products from your diet- beef can cause a reaction as well as dairy products.

Although it can take weeks to fully leave your system, depending on how allergic your DD is, you might notice an improvement quickly. My DD has a dairy allergy and around 5wks (before I knew she had it), she had all possible symptoms - I cut out dairy completely and within only a week, she showed vast improvement, only her eczema remained and it was minor compare to how it was the week prior. I was even able to reintroduce dairy back into my diet when she was approx 5-6mo and she was able to tolerate it.
