I know I am stressing for no reason & everything will fall into place & work out once i get into a scheudle. The fear of the unknown is driving my crazy. DD is due September. DS just turned 2 in July. I will be home for 12 weeks from work. DS will keep same day care routine 2 Full days a week. BUt will not be going to MIL 2 days a week while I am on leave. Sometimes she will take him for the day but not throughout the whole leave. So he will be home with us. I love the idea & looking foward to the time with him. I intend to start him up back with MIL 2 days a week 2 weeks prior to returning to work so he gets back into routine. Now my quetsion, LOL. he is very scheduled. wakeup, lunch, nap same time every day, even poops same time most days. I am trying everything i can to not disrupt his routine when DD comes & still have time individually for DD and DS....Is that possible? How do you guys do it?

Dd was 15 months when Ds was born (10 weeks ago). I'm on leave til end August. I'm not going to lie, it's not that easy. Dd is not in daycare so I'm home with them both. I'm fortunate to have my mom come and help a few days a week but when I'm alone with them i try to keep dd on her routine. Wake up time is hardest bc I never know when Ds will wake. So I try to get up and showered before the kids get up. I take dd out and have some alone time with her before Ds wakes. I keep her nap time the same give or take 15 mins depending when I need to feed Ds. The best advice I got was to go to the oldest if they both need you at the same time bc they will notice if they are getting ignored and may choose to act out bc of it. I do let dd watch a lot more tv bc there's time I need to devote to Ds (feeding etc). I rarely get to hold and snuggle Ds unless he's eating or dd is napping bc I try to still play with her as much as possible It gets easier as the days go on...and now dd loves her little brother and tries to help with him

Re: new baby with Toddler
It's really tough being alone with a newborn and a toddler. My MIL watches DD two days a week and she continues to do so even while I m home with DS. There is no way I could do all day with the two of them by myself in the beginning.
I agree with pp re giving attention to the oldest first when possible. Although I have heard that things are easier if you had a bot first vs a girl. My friends with the older child being a boy seem to have had an easier time with two

it wasn't really bad for me. It was exhausting yes, but it wasn't horrible. I'm a sahm. I just stuck with routine. DD had school 2 days a week, and dd2 just came along with us. #2 didn't really make things any more hard. The hardest for me was trying to remember things, like take bottles and formula with me lol. Mommy brain. DD1 did watch more tv than usual but we eventually got back to normal. The baby sleeps so much in the beginning, there's plenty of time. I found a few months in and more mobile to be even harder than the first few weeks/months. We went out, parks, stores, etc. I tried not to change to much for dd1
