Re: Nanny cost? please help
When we lived in the city we paid $350/3 days (8:30-6) and had negotiated $425/4 days, $500/5 days. This was for one infant, and we paid on the books. We paid slightly more at the end (I think an extra $50/week) because we ended up moving to the burbs after about 6 months and felt bad she had to look for a new position and also didnt want her to leave us before we moved.
I think LI might be slightly less, but involving a second kid would be slightly more. Also, you could probably get away with paying less if you pay off the books but I did not feel comfortable with that -- I am an attorney and my dad is our CPA and I didnt want to put ourselves at risk lying on our taxes, plus I was glad our nanny was an American citizen who wanted to be paid on the books and pay taxes. We found plenty of people willing to be paid on the books so it wasnt an issue for us
