Turks and Caicos - First Timer Q'sssss
So last minute decision we are hoping to go to Turks and Caicos next week!!! We have never been so lots of questions:
1) Safe? Safe enough to rent a private house versus staying at a resort. We are not bigs of resorts at all and would much rather get a private home with a pool just concerned a little about safety as we have never been.
2) Weather - looks to be in the 90's next week - anyone been in the summer?
3) Any areas we should try to stay in OR areas we should avoid?
Anything else you can add would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

Re: Turks and Caicos - First Timer Q'sssss
Thank you so we booked!!! so last minute...going next saturday...renting a small villa near grace bay so now I have q'sssss.
How much food can I and should I bring in? As this is a villa and not a hotel I assume I will need to replenish paper products etc and read on some forum that they charge $27 for 9 rolls of toilet paper!! based on that I am nervous and feel like I have to stock up which is not like me as usually I just go with the flow but if its super expense I should stock up right?
What are the must see / must do things?
As we are staying within walking distance to most things we feel like we wont rent a car for the week but just for a day here and there if we want to explore - good idea or bad?
Anything in particular that would be good for our kids - 8 and 4? are there any playgrounds? water parks etc? I know we will be doing lots of water based activities but just in case there are fun land based things for the kids to do also.
Anywhere to eat / drink that you would recommend?
Anything to watch out for - ie crazy spiders or bugs etc?
Thanks

LOVE turks. we went in oct and are going again this spring.
if you are staying in grace bay there is a giant supermarket en route from the airport. even though we were staying at a hotel, we still stopped and stocked up.
definitely go to da conch shack. it is a must do. also had a great meal at coco bistro and it was super kid friendly.

Just got back and loved it. We stayed at Seven Stars in Grace Bay. Everyone says Coco Bistro is the best but we went with friends and we all liked Coyaba better. Coco Bistro was definitely good, too! Personally I hated the Thursday Fish Fry event. It's just not my type of thing, it was loud, crowded, and no where to sit when you eventually got food.
