Side note: I do have an account on the teachnyc website, but I don't think I have access to the current job listings

You can teach 1 grade above and 1 grade below your certification.

I have actually been meaning to message you. I got a call the other day from a co-worker for a job at Bell Academy in Bayside. They are DOE and looking for a middle school math teacher (algebra reagents). I don't have my extension for the upper grades but you have the certs they are looking for . I would call them and press '1' for the main office - the asst. principal is who answered the phone and gave me his e-mail to send the resume to.

OMG i just sent my resume out to them lol- my friend had the log-in info for the open market portal to see what schools were hiring. Can you FM me the principal's email address?

I only wrote down the first part because when I realized that I didn't have the right certs, it didn't matter. It was pperskin@nycschools something. I would check on the school website or call. Speaking with him might be better because he'll ask you what your name is and a little about yourself and then know what name to look for when you send your resume. Good luck!
